A Bartender’s jobs include taking drink orders directly from customers or from the waiters, checking the identification of the customers to ensure they meet the minimum age criteria.
A Bartender is required to have a range of drink recipes that they can prepare to suit a variety of customers. Bartenders must have the skills to be fast and accurate when preparing drinks. Bartending jobs also require them to have a constant supply of ice, clean glasses, drink garnishes and bar supplies while maintaining the cleanliness of the bar area.
A Bartender must remain courteous and polite even when a customer is intoxicated. It is the Bartenders responsibility to gracefully refuse a customer’s order when they are intoxicated.
Bartender jobs include the following tasks:
- serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks
- pour beer from the taps or bottles
- mix cocktails and create drink garnishes
- collect dirty glasses and use glass washing machines
- receive money, operate cash registers and give change
- arrange bottles and glasses on shelves
- clean bar service area and polish glasses
