Machine Operator Jobs in United States
Machine Operators are responsible for the safe and efficient use of manufacturing equipment such as lathes, milling machines and grinders.

There are two types of Machine Operators: Setters and Tenders.

Setters prepare the machine for operation by equipping it with the appropriate tools and making sure those tools are in good working order.

Tenders run and monitor the machine while it is working, check machines periodically throughout the shift and adjusts machine speeds or load machines with materials as required. Tenders are responsible for quality control by comparing whatever product the machine produces to that product's blueprints.

Machine Operator jobs require a good knowledge of computerised equipment, ability to interpret blueprints and a sound understanding of safety procedures. Machine Operators must have excellent communication skills and be able to follow instructions and procedures.

Machine Operators are required to wear a considerable number of safety apparatus including ear protection, protective goggles, gloves, face masks, safety shoes and, in some manufacturing plants, respirators.
